Microsoft officially stops supporting Windows 8.1

Starting today, January 10, 2023, Microsoft will officially stop supporting Windows 8.1.

Ending support for Windows 8.1

And the termination of support by the American company means that it will not provide technical support, software updates, or even security updates and troubleshooting for Windows 8.1 users.

Of course, computers with this operating system will not be. Vulnerable to various threats such as viruses, malware and hacking. It also will not work properly as it normally would. The decision to end support for Windows 8.1 comes after Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 7 for users on January 14, 2020. Microsoft is scheduled to end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025.

Both operating systems will continue to work without any problem, but without official support from Microsoft. Users will have to troubleshoot any issues themselves.

Months ago, Microsoft warned Windows 8.1 users about the end of support date, through notifications on the operating system and encouraged them to upgrade and install higher versions of the operating system such as Windows 10 or even Windows 11.

But there is a problem that Windows 8.1 PC users will face. Windows 11 or 10 needs modern hardware to run perfectly.
